National Animal Rights Day
June 6, 2021
In June 2021, FADPE joined the 11th edition of the National Animal Rights Day (NARD11), celebrated for the first time in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The event brought together more than 120 participants from the Goma community to reflect on the daily suffering of animals, including roosters, cows, goats, ducks, and turkeys, and to call for an end to their mistreatment.
Participants discussed the idea that all animals deserve a dignified life: food, shelter, care, and respect in death. The day concluded with a caravan through Goma’s Lac Vert and Mugunga districts, ending with awareness sessions in Kanzana and Majengo.
